Cinque Torri (The Five Towers)
The Cinque Torri rock formation, a cluster of dramatic stone columns, is located about 30 minutes southwest of Cortina d’Ampezzo.
>Today was an easy day, after two solid hikes: Tre Cime (3 Zinnen) and Lago di Sorapis.
>Also, yesterday’s return from Sorapis ended in shredded feet—this morning I hobbled around the apartment in flip-flops, covered in plasters.
We drove to the parking lot at the Passo Falzarego chairlift to Cinque Torri.
By 10 a.m., the lot was already nearly full.
Those who don’t fit park along the roadside.
Parking at the lift is free.
We bought return tickets and took the lift up to Rifugio Cinque Torri.
From there, a gravel path leads gently downhill and circles around the towers.
That’s it. I told you it was an easy one.
Cinque Torri is popular among climbers.
So if you’re walking close to the rocks—keep an eye out.
Loose stones may come flying.
I picked a quiet spot to fly the drone and shoot the towers.
>Fifteen minutes later, a group of eight clustered around me—figuring the view must be great.
>I patiently waited for them to leave so I could land the drone (battery was dying).
Which means—I probably missed a few angles.
We made a semi-loop around the towers and headed to the restaurant at the lift station for lunch.
Honestly, the view from the restaurant terrace is the best—makes the drone unnecessary.
