Anse Source d’Argent – Most Photographed Beach in the Seychelles

Anse Source d’Argent Beach on La Digue island is the most photographed beach in the Seychelles.
In fact, most tourists come to La Digue just for it.
And after hopping off the ferry, they rent bicycles and pedal straight into Union Estate Park.

I’ve already written about La Digue here: La Digue, Seychelles 2021 (how to get there and what to see).
And yes, I’ve got a ridiculous amount of photos from La Digue — mostly of this beach.

To be precise, 90% of them are from Anse Source d’Argent.
Had to dump them somewhere, right?

Granite Boulders by the Shore

These rounded granite boulders are the postcard image of the Seychelles — framed by palm trees, turquoise water, and open blue sky.
A color palette made in heaven.

The water here is shallow, so the ocean glows a bright baby blue thanks to the white sandy bottom.
It’s also bathwater-warm, and sea grass grows on the bottom — those darker patches you see are underwater meadows.

But if you continue walking along the coast toward Anse Pierrot, the next beach, the sandy bottom gives way to sharp rocks.
You can only move on foot.
Some tourists opt for canoe tours with glass-bottom boats. They follow the guide in single file, checking out fish through the bottom of their kayak.

But honestly, the best thing to do here is find your own private little pocket of beach between the boulders, and just melt into the warm sea — like lukewarm soup.
It’s hot in the Seychelles.

At one spot, there’s a makeshift tent selling bottled water.
Or just bring your own — you’ll need it.

You can’t really swim here because of how shallow it is.
But if you find a sandy gap between the grassy spots, you can float like a hippo and lazily watch the fish swim past.
Two overweight Spanish ladies I met in the water asked, “Do these fish bite?”
I lied so they’d leave me alone.
